In celebration of Gottsu’s 12th anniversary, the 2023 edition Signature Vintage Marble has been enhanced with Gottsu’s revolutionary new sliding ligature system!

The design is nearly identical to the Vintage Signature, but the beak on the Marble Signature is made slightly thinner in order to complement the qualities of the marbled ebonite. A pure Silver ring plated with 24k Gold is fitted to the shank, which slightly brightens the tone of the mouthpiece. Compared to the standard Vintage Signature, the Marble Signature has a nearly identical tone but feels softer and more pleasant to play.

With the 2023 update, the new Gottsu “underscrew”-style sliding ligature accompanies the mouthpiece. The ligature, which slides into grooves cut parallel to the mouthpiece table, utilizes a mechanism that presses the contact plate securely and evenly down onto the reed, significantly improving the performance over a conventional ligature.

I went through trial and error to see if I could make Vintage Signature out of marble.
Not only did we change the material, but we also subtly modified the shape to match the material, and plated the SV950 shank ring with 24 gold to create a surprisingly tasteful tone. We went through trial and error to see if we could adopt the new patent-pending ligature system to a conical hard rubber mouthpiece. Try very lightly tightening the screw on the slide ligature so that there is not much tension. There is a tone that you have never experienced before. Gottsu’s new mouthpieces are the result of the highest quality materials and technical excellence. This offers saxophonists even more musical possibilities.
