Virtuoso's Silver Ligature
The Silver ligature was developed and debuted in celebration of Gottsu’s 10th anniversary. Over the past several years, we have honed our silversmithing abilities and refined the original Silver ligature into its new form, the Virtuoso’s Silver Ligature. The ligature has been meticulously redeveloped specifically for Clarinet by Gottsu’s own Clarinetist, Troy Myren, in cooperation with Atsushi Tsudzurano, one of Japan’s most highly renowned musicians. It now features a 2-screw design on a wider 25mm band, which secures the reed firmly and comfortably. The Virtuoso Ligature exhibits stunning projection with a beautiful, centered tone while still maintaining good responsiveness. This is surely the ligature of choice on concert day in a grand hall whether performing with an orchestra, a small ensemble, piano accompaniment, or simply solo.
The main body of the ligature is carefully hand-forged from a single piece of 950 pure silver. The silver is first melted, cast and pressed into a workable piece, then meticulously shaped and refined with a hammer, which leaves the ligature with its beautiful pattern. The screws notably feature a bell-shaped bore. Their size and shape have been optimized for both function and tone. Thanks to the malleability of Silver, the ligature will gradually become perfectly formed to your mouthpiece.
