What is it
The Gottsu Sliding Ligature system is an adaptation of Gottsu’s patented “pressure plate”-style ligature system, which is present on all Gottsu Signature ligatures. The sliding ligature attaches directly to the mouthpiece via rails on the arch piece, which slides into grooves cut along the table of the mouthpiece. The mechanism exerts pressure firmly and evenly across the reed, which allows the reed to vibrate freely and easily. With both the full ligature and the sliding ligature, one is able to achieve incredibly solf pianissimo’s and light articulation. A mouthpiece with the Gottsu ligature system transforms the saxophone into a true joy to blow on.
How to use
This ligature is specially designed to firmly secure the reed to the mouthpiece with minimal amounts of pressure. The 4-point plate utilizes leverage across all four points to hold the reed securely and prevent it from moving. Overtightening the screw may cause the arch to bend and become damaged. Lightly tighten the screw to the point that the reed is secure, and it will stay in place even when adjusting the mouthpiece.
Where to obtain
The Sliding Ligature system is present on all Masahiko Goto “signature” models and the HL. In addition, we can add rails to certain mouthpieces in order to accomodate the sliding ligature. Inquire with us to find out if rails and a sliding ligature can be added to your specific mouthpiece.
